Something Incredible!: Dark Night

Something Incredible!: Dark Night

“Obviously, I am! I am not gona back out just because it’s a stupid boys sport. Watch! You just wait and watch!” I turned around and started walking to my room.
“But, but…Honey! It’s an all boys sport, and there wouldn’t be a single girl on it! Why don’t you just join a sport that is good enough for you? Plus what happened….”
I turned around and before she finished I spoke. “Mom, I already know that this sport is good for me. I love this sport…. And mom no matter what, I’m gona join this sport!”
“But honey,” she tried again, “You could try something else. Like the sport you joined in freshman year, you were really good at it you know.”
“Mother! Softball! C’mon you gotta be kiddin’ me…”
“Hon’ use proper wordings…,” she said seriously interrupting me.
“…I mean that sport was too GIRLY, I mean I don’t know how the coach even passed them to be on our team! There is no way I am joining that again!”
“…Then if you didn’t like it you could always join something else, like tennis or soccer? Can’t you be a little considered? And honey it is so not your type!” she finished.
“Mother I think you’re mistaking me for your other daughter, Molly. And I think by now you should know that I am nothing like HER! I mean I’d rather just be the one who I am right now, who likes playing sports, who is into sports, who has real friends instead of the ‘Oh my god, I think I just broke a nail!’ type girls.” I immediately turned around and started to walk for my room before she got the chance to say anything else to me.
“But honey you should know that when you do join football that not only your teammates but also the whole school will be laughing and talking about you! I don’t want you to be upset honey. Why can’t you just try to be more like your sister?” mother’s wordings heart me so much, I couldn’t believe I was stuck with her.
When I finally reached my room, I started to dress for the football tryouts. I took out my blue Eagles Jersey and white lined shorts to wear. While I was getting dressed I thought what mom had said. Sometimes I would just hate when she would try to blackmail me about being more like Molly. I just get so pissed off whenever someone says her name. Then about softball and a girl sport? Where does she get all this from? I mean she says I should try playing a sport related more to girls. Well I can join whatever I want, it’s a free country!
I still remember when I was in my freshman year softball. We were practicing for the game we had next afternoon. My team was first to ball and that was what I really hated. I mean you would too if you had to play the game with only you working hard! Anyways I was the first to ball, since my team was too packed up with makeup, so I told the rest of my team where to go. When I pitched the ball and the batter did her batting, I looked around to where the ball went, but instead I saw that no one was trying to catch the ball. My stupid team was too busy talking about things unrelated to the game. When I caught the ball I tried to run and get to the base before she did, but I failed. For the whole game it seemed as if I was the only one working hard to win the game. I swear I am always gona, always had, and always will hate girls who care more about makeup, nails, hair, and so on. But the one thing I don’t get is that if girls do care to join, then why don’t they try winning one in a while!
“Hey, idiot are you ready yet? How long are you gona keep us waiting? Hurry up!”
That’s my sister, Molly. She’s the one I was talking about earlier. She’s always about “Oh how do I look” type. Always my mom’s favorite! Thank god she doesn’t like any sports or even joined any, or else she would be doing that every time she’d had to run, catch, or even do anything that would include winning her looks. I just can’t believe that she’s MY sister; I mean why can’t mom just have someone similar to me? Both mom and Molly always say that I got a boys’ personality, I’m a tom boy, because I don’t even act like a girl, (in their way, a girl means wearing all make-up, playing girl sports, liking the color pink, and especially liking to cheerlead), and I would not want to be that type of girl in any way. Now you tell me, is that my fault?
“Hey! Hurry up, will ya! Justin can’t wait that long, you know! We’re getting late for our date!”
There she goes again, “I’m coming, I’m coming!” I yelled back. I hurried downstairs and ran into Justin’s car. Mom had gone to work so I had Justin and Molly drop me off. Justin was Molly’s, um I guess ninth boyfriend. He was cute and hot, but the only thing he was missing was a brain. He actually was on the football team. So if I do make it through the tryouts, then I guess I’d be getting a lot of tips from him. My sister was a junior and Justin a senior. Molly was pretty and had so little brains, and so did Justin. So… they do make a good couple after all.
The car was all nice and cold means I wouldn’t have to be dying in the 100 degrees temperature outside. Justin had put on some slow, romantic song. It’s just amazing how a guy like Justin could enjoy something slow. I mean all the guys that I had dated were more into rock, hip-hop, and all that loud crowded up music. I don’t mean to say I don’t like any of that stuff, I mean I do like a little hip-hop but still not that much. Speaking of boyfriends, guess what the surprising thing was; all the guys that had dated me wasn’t because they had liked me, but instead they had thought of me as more similar to my sister or either they had just wanted to get close to talking to her to get her on a stupid date. Surprisingly it has been over a year since I had last dated. Since the last date with Geek-Master Dave, I had swore that I wouldn’t date until I really got to know that guy by heart, and that he actually likes me for who I am but not because what he wants me to be.

Dark Night

It was a dark night. My parents had just gotten finished up with fighting. I had a big test tomorrow morning and I needed to get some sleep. After the fight I had heard the door open and shut loudly. I heard footsteps and then a car start, move, and drive away. Maybe dad went to chill out a bit. I started to hear whimpers and loud sobs. They started to get louder and louder. I shut my eyes tightly, until they disappeared. I was not going to be involved in this anymore. I wonder what they could be fighting over tonight. But who really does care? I mean if I do go and try to stop it, it’s just going to get bigger. They never listen, they only argue!
I woke up in the middle of the night. I heard a door open and close. Maybe it’s dad. The floor squeak as tiptoes came towards my room. I thought dad was going to check up on me. But the tiptoes just passed my room and went to the far end of the hall. That’s where his room is. That’s it, he just goes to bed? Nothing! I GUESS THEIR FIGHTS WILL NEVER END.
MY HEAD WAS HURTING WHEN I WOKE UP IN THE MORNING. I GOT OUT OF BED AND WENT TO THE BATHROOM. I LOOKED AT MY FACE IN THE MIRROR AND WASHED it. THE HOUSE WAS REALLY QUITE. BESIDES THE BIRDS OUTSIDE MY WINDOW I COULDN’T HEAR ANYTHING AT ALL! MAYBE IT’S JUST MY EARS, I THOUGHT. I OPENED MY BEDROOM DOOR AND PEERED IN THE HALLWAY. NO ONE! I GOT OUT OF MY ROOM AND STARTED GOING TOWARDS THE LIVING ROOM. WHEN I SAW NO ONE THERE I WENT TO THE KITCHEN. EMPTY! THE ENTIRE HOUSE WAS EMPTY! I GUESS THEY LEFT BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO TELL THE WHOLE WORLD ABOUT THEIR FIGHTS. OH WELL, AT LEAST I GOT THE HOUSE ALL TO MY HOUSE! I COULD DO ANYTHING I WANT TO. GREAT!
Now first thing’s first, let’s turn this into a party house. I pushed the sofas against the walls or windows, and then gathered some cds. I turned down the lights, put some snacks in a bowl, and ordered some pizza. Next I called up a few kids to call up their friends and tell them all to come over my house at 4pm. I think that sounds good. It’s almost 3pm and still no sign of my parents so most likely having a party at 4pm doesn’t sound half bad! The house started filling up around 4:15 though. The music got louder and louder and the snacks got lesser and lesser. It was around 6:20 when I saw him. With His dreamy smile and soft, dark brown hair he came towards me. His name was eddy. He was really popular around school. Heck! He was an inspiration to all the kids!
“Hi! You know where the snacks are?” he asked.
What! That’s what he wanted to ask? Where the snacks are? That’s a piss off!
“I guess you don’t know either!” he said and walked away.
It was around 8:06 when I heard the front door open. “What’s going on here?” I heard someone shout. He had a heavy voice. It sounded just like my dad. I quickly walked towards the front door. I saw all the party guests slowly walk out. When the room cleared up I saw my dad, standing steady as possible. I almost forgot about my parents! His face was blood red. He was angry, I knew it. My mom was standing behind him, looking down at the floor. She didn’t say anything at all, just looked down.
